This was announced by President of the Business Council of PNG, David Toua, during the Australia-PNG Business Council Forum in Port Moresby.
Toua, who is a member of the PNG ABAC group said they are working with the United Nations Development Program to support the working group as a contributor to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
“PNG ABAC in the last 12 to 18 months has introduced a working group sub-committee in ABAC with regards to sustainable life after the closure of major projects. It’s a body if work that’s been well embraced and we’re very proud, and we’ve got really good backing from the mining sector and our extractive industry, and already the likes of Peru and Chile have joined our efforts in ensuring that that goes forward.
“If I was to summarise what we were to do next year, we will host the agenda, well deliver it and well give it a bit of a PNG flavour, introduce some PNG priorities and then hand it back to ABAC,” said Toua.
Papua New Guinea hosted ABAC II in 2016 and will host ABAC 4, as well as, The APEC CEO Summit next year.
