Lihir people pledge to support Sir J

The people of Lihir Island in the New Ireland Province have pledge their support to return Governor Sir Julius Chan and Namatanai MP Byron Chan.

It was a welcome never seen before and a true expression of the appreciation and gratitude by the people of Lihir to Sir Julius Chan and Minister Byron Chan during their visit to the islands last Friday.

The people went all out in traditional sing-sing and made gift presentations to the Governor, expressing their heartfelt and sincere appreciation for the policies they have benefited from for the last nine years.

School children, youths and the old all gathered to welcome the Governor and his delegation including the Minister for Mining Byron Chan, Appointed Chiefs and officials.

Governor was touched by the hospitality and response from the villages he’s visited including Malie, Mahur, Masahet, Londolovit, Putput, Lataul, Samo and Palie.

Throughout Nimamar LLG the people thanked Governor for the policies he implemented and delivered since he took office in 2007.

School children thanked Sir J for the free and subsidised education policy and parents expressed appreciation for roof over heads, old age and disabled pension, solar lights, Digicel communication amongst others.

The message expressed by all was overwhelming support for this Government, its vision and its policies.

Sir J had traveled to Karu in Sentral NiuAilan on Monday for a huge gathering of wards 7, 8, 9,12,13,14.
