Heavy rain warning for Samoa

The Samoa Meteorology Office says continuous heavy rainfall poses a risk of flooding in all low lying areas including areas close to rivers and streams.

The public has been advised to take precautionary measures by refraining from crossing rivers, streams and fords if flooded.

It is also recommended that drinking water be boiled before consumption.

As the official cyclone season has just begun, the public is being urged to prepare extra drinking water and emergency supplies in the event that a cyclone is detected.

Weather scientists have predicted 1 to 2 cyclones to hit Samoa this season.
