The National Youth Development Authority is now committed than ever before to target this population.
The youth make up a bigger part of the world's population.
They are the future of their community.
For PNG, the majority of this population is either unemployed or not in school.
This is a result of the bottleneck education system in the country.
During the launch of the Youth Skills Training Center, youth from the Kuige village in Southern Highlands Province perfectly depicted the bottleneck system through a short drama.
For the LLG, this centre is seen as breaking the bottleneck system and providing fair opportunities to empower all youth.
Herman Pulo, NYDA director, said the NYDA is also pushing for equal opportunity for all through its policies.
Pulo said pathways are now being carefully planned to capture what was missed. One of such was the youth employment training and establishing youth offices in the LLGs to directly deal with them.
The bigger responsibility is also on members and leaders elected to represent their people.
