Learning the art of fabric printing the Samoan way

A Samoan fashion designer is in Port Moresby for a two day fabric printing workshop.

Cecilia Keil of Cecilia’s fashion house will be teaching the basics of fabric painting to interested participants.

The workshop, an initiative of PNG Fashion and Design Week, commenced today at Lamana Hotel.

“This is a simple art but the idea here is to transfer the knowledge and skills to our people. Teach them how easy it is,” said Janet Sios – founder of PNG F&D Week.

“We also realise the potential of what we can do to generate a small income for our Papua New Guineans as well,” she added.

The workshop is open to public, with a fee of K500 over the two days.

This workshop is the first of such. There will also be another workshop next week, on designing.
