ESP police wait on report

East Sepik police say that the armed robbery of over K37 000 of Papindo Maprik may see the perpetrators walk free if there is no complaint or report from the owners or managers of the shop.

East Sepik Provincial Police commander, Peter Philips said this as following the robbery, the PPC’s office has yet to receive any official report from Papindo.

However he says this is not the first such case adding that there have been many instances involving Asians who refuse to lay complaints.

PPC Philips says that this has been very suspicious, prompting him to issue directives to Maprik police to investigate this as well.

The PPC says that a case can only be investigated if there are reports or complaints laid to the police – without these there is no case.
