K25,000 to support PNG Games preps

K25,000 has been donated to the PNG Games from the 36th Annual Indian Night.

Funding from the event, which was held on Saturday (Nov 11), will go towards some of the final preparation costs of running the games in Kimbe, West New Britain Province.

Host Governor Sasindran Muthuvel was on hand to receive the donation and was more than thankful, saying the community had donated in the past to certain worthwhile events.

Muthuvel said with the games a few days from the official opening, the donation was timely and he has thanked the community once again to recognise and donate funds to well-meaning events.

He stressed that over the years, he had received kind donations and this shows the community is open-minded to identify significant causes.

The Governor further thanked the hard working staff on the ground in Kimbe, who have been working tirelessly to complete the facilities.

He has further appealed to national airline carrier, Air Niugini, to subsidise cost of airfares to ensure all athletes can travel to Kimbe for the games.

After several delays, the official opening is now scheduled for November 18th while the event will end on December 2.
